Then again, my references ARE going through the same SW plugin instance my mix is. I've done the Car Check on my mix without correction, and while it's not great, it's certainly not.THAT! I just don't get it. But, this is wild enough to where I'm not sure I trust what I'm hearing. Now, I understand this kind of correction is going to be really stark and uncomfortable, for sure. I turn SW off and none of that crap is there.

Very cool.īut, Sonarworks on my own mix is a different story - especially drums - it's a freaking nightmare! But, I don't really hear any pronounced pre-ringing artifacts - even in Linear Phase mode. Cool.įlipping between the different phase-mode options does make a significant difference in how tight the low-mids and lows are. I can hear how certain frequency ranges have been tucked in with broad brush strokes and everything seems more balanced overall. When I pop over to the reference tracks in my DAW (Cubase), flipping back and forth between Sonarworks calibrated vs. I'm trying it out on a mix I've been working on for a while now. So, I'm trying out their new SoundID thing (for speakers), and I don't really understand what I'm hearing.
